Eleanor’s story can get a little heavy, I know. So from time to time I think I’ll interrupt our story with some fun illustrations. This evening’s interlude is my first-ever Eleanor pinup: Eleanor’s Leap.
As we approach the end of Eleanor’s prologue, I’m way out in front of the story. This week I’ve been thumbnailing pages for Chapter 2. One of the great pages of that chapter is what you see here: Eleanor returning — sort of — to Huffnagle’s cliff, and throwing herself from its edge to the sea below.
I couldn’t resist practicing this page a little before I have to draw it for real, and one of the early versions turned out so well I thought I’d share it here.
Here’s a look at the before-and-after of the sketch:

You can also get the pinup as a wallpaper for your iPhone over here!
(I’m most proud to share this because the quality of Eleanor is only getting better with every new page, and this is a chance to share what you can look forward to as we march towards the next chapter.)
Also, if you’re into comics that both look better and publish more frequently than Eleanor, be sure to check out Tony Cliff’s spectacular Delilah Dirk & the Turkish Lieutenant. Hands down the best webcomic I’m reading this year, by a prolific and talented writer and artist. Give it a look!
